Mark was also appointed to give instructional seminars to the citizens of Garrett County on "Low Cost – No Cost" methods of reducing energy costs while maintaining and even raising home comfort levels. These classes were funded partially by grants from the Maryland Energy Office, The Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Energy. Potomac Edison contributed educational materials. Hot Shotz conducts qualitative and quantitative Home Energy Audits and is a subcontractor for Potomac Edison in cooperating with the EM-Power Maryland Act to help Marylanders reduce energy consumption 15% by 2015. Watkins started working with energy in the early 80's as an installer for Garrett County Community Actions Weatherization dept. and eventually became a crew leader. He left his position there to start a residential Painting Co. after graduating from a bible institute. He served as an associate pastor for 13 years, worked as a professional photographer, and land surveyor. Watkins started Hot Shotz in the spring of 2007. His certifications include: level one Infrared Thermographer, HERS rater through RESNET (Residential Energy Services Network), Building Analyst Professional through BPI (Building Performance Institute) and CMC Energy Services.
